My 1971 acclerator cable was positioned inside the vertical ignition shield and the distributor top shield brackets. In this position the cable is wearing through to the cable because it rubs on the verticle shield/brackets. My assembly manual doesn't show whether it should be run inside or outside the shields but a picture in Paragon parts book shows the 1974-1981 accelerator cable running outside these shields.
Questions:
1. Does the cable run inside OR outside the vertical shields OR between the vertical ignition shield and the verticle distributor top shield backet to get to the carb????? Can't ever tell from pictures of the engine because the aircleaner, etc. blocks the view.
2. Why did they design the cable to come through the firewall and then have to bend medially about 4 inches instead of it coming through the firewall in a position to run straight to the carb. Doesn't seem like a good design???????
Any help or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks
