The side upper window weather seals on a '58 are fabric wrapped vs. rubber for later years. Can anyone tell me if the header weather seal is also fabric wrapped? Thanks

Re: '58 Softtop question
Chuck, the front header and the first two side weatherstrips were a single one piece weatherstrip. Unfortunately, everyone reproduces the '59 & up which were three separate pieces. The side weatherstrip pieces were wrapped with bowdrill material as you've stated. This continued on the front header weatherstrip approximately one to two inches past the corner. Hope this helps. Re: '58 Softtop question
Gary,
Thanks for the information. It helps a great deal. I think we will be able to reproduce the original configuration. We found some very similar wrapping material and could extend our side weatherstrip wrap to include a few inches of the header weatherstripping. This should cosmetically hide the joint between the pieces. Thanks again.

Re: '58 Softtop question
Gary is right the header is one piece original soft sponge rubber unit having a round filler piece and LOOKS nothing like the ones sold today as a replacement from a 60 to 62. Because the frame was redesigned some time in late 1959?Last edited by Roy B.; August 26, 2008, 03:54 PM.- Top
