A good friend recently aquired a 1960 "dirty garage find" original owner car. The car had not been driven since 1985 and has sat in a garage where the local mice contingent made it their home for many years.
Part of the prep to see if we can get the car running is to freshen up the carb. I have many years of rebuilding and tuning quadrajets and Holleys under my belt, but have never worked on a Carter. (part number on this carb is 3779178)
It appears that it was rebuilt before the car was parked. But the inside was pretty gummed up and the throttle plates would not move.
If there is anything special of tricky about these carbs, please enlighten me. I have the carb disassembled and have run it through the parts washer. Everything is now clean and I'm ready to start the reassembly process, but need to know if there is anything special to be on the lookout for........
Regards,
Tom
