    Blue Certification Label

Where can I get a replacement blue certification label for my 71. It was destroyed when the car was repainted. Couldn't find anything on e-bay.

    Thanks Paul

Paul - I got one for my 70 from ECS Automotive Concepts. I think they just changed their website address, and I'm not sure what it is now. In my opinion their labels look very good. Good luck

I've purchased them off of eBay for $25.00 and only lost 2 points during judging. There's a gentleman that prepares them for about $100 that work well during judging. Someone on this forum gave me his name.

I got mine off eBay two years ago from a seller who had three different late '60s-early '70s IBM typewriters and did the typing for mine before he mailed it. Looks great. Should have gotten two.

Just remember the serial number is made from your protecto plate and not a typewriter on some original lables you car see other codes that are from the plate. Paul

            Hi Paul

Just happen to have a photograph of my cert. label, showing your description. Notice the lower left corner, it shows the additional protecto plate codes.

The one pictured in Pat's post looks really good. Maybe someone has finally found the solution.

I just Googled their website, and this won't be the answer for everyone.

The catch is you have to HAVE a sticker to GET a sticker. They require a high quality digital photograph of your original sticker, so they must be making a high quality reprographics copy of the original sticker onto color matched paper.

I wondered how Pat got traces from his Protectoplate stamp on a reproduction sticker.

Magic, I guess. It seems to me that when any reproduction Corvette part or piece comes out as reproductions it's almost as if people treat them like a plague. What else can Corvette owners do when pieces or parts are no longer available through normal production? If the P-O-P is no longer in existence what else is one to do? That's why we have a Paragon and Dr. Rebuild and people who reproduce these blue certification stickers.

Hmmm... they must be doing something different now, because when I ordered my label a couple of years ago I didn't have and wasn't asked to provide a photograph of an original. I simply received a blank label. Now I'm glad I got two more blanks just in case.
Getting the POP info on was tedious but simple. I masked around the appropriate embossing on my POP, inked up the exposed area, and simply pressed it onto the label. I also allowed the very top of the second line of characters to be exposed to the ink so as to reproduce some of the barely legible secondary info a lot of labels show, like the one shown in this thread. The date was a little tougher, since it had to be applied in single characters and they had to line up correctly.
The label was a little waxy so the ink didn't dry right away, and it had to be left untouched overnight.
Not quite magic, just stubborn determination.

And that is why the owner does not lose ALL the points. Configuration, finish, etc. is correct. The font on the GM statement is sometimes not correct and the logo in the corner is fuzzy. Like any other reproduction item, it receives credit for whatever is like the original.

Pat, I am impressed with how you did yours. Hope to see the car in St. Charles.

Thanks Reba, the kind words of you and Terry mean a great deal to me, as does all of the kind advice the two of you have given me.
And you will see the car in St. Charles. I'm looking forward to the challenge of the highest standards.

Just be aware there are some labels that are correct, some that are not correct, and some that you can detect at 10'
