    Pitman Arm & Rebuilt Power Steering Valve

    I'm in the process of swapping all of my power steering components for rebuilt. The rebuilt control valve and cylinder as well as new hoses are from Van Steel. On the control valve, they attached a tag stating "...Check Pitman Arm #3741383 If this number does not match, problems will occur!". There is a number on the bottom of my pitman arm x829451 B (where x is illegible). No number exits on top.

    Here are my questions;
    1) Could someone be so kind as to send me the missing pages from section 9 (UPC 9) of my 1967 assembly manual? I only have A3 & A4. I don't know how many there are in UPC 9. The page for the pitman arm is missing.

    2) Is this really going to be a problem if my pitman arm number is not 3741383?

    The pitman arm you currently have on the car, GM #3829451, is a manual steering arm. I would say that it's highly likely that someone converted the car to power steering in the past and didn't change the arm.

    The power steering pitman arm, GM #3741383 or 3741384, is configured a little bit differently than the manual steering arm. Often times, the manual steering arm will work for a power steering application (as is the case here since that's what you've had as long as you've owned the car), but it's really not correct.

    If it were me, I'd change the arm. The power steering arm is not that difficult to obtain, either good used or reproduction.

      Thank you Joe. I'll look for a 3741383.

      As I inspected the old parts, I suspected this was an auto wrecker power steering conversion, done before I bought the car in 1982.

        Help - Missing Pages From 1967 AIM

        Could someone be so kind as to email me the missing pages from UPC 9 of my 1967 assembly manual? I need at least two sheets.

        I only have two sheets numbered A3 & A4 for UPC 9. I don't know how many there are in UPC 9. I know the page for the pitman arm is missing.

        Thank you in advance.
