C1 56-57 Cigar Lighter

I have two lighters. Each has the Casco L144C element. One has a small chrome bezel between the element and the knob, the other does not. The knobs each have stems on them that would preclude use in the other fashion. One stem (with bezel) is too long to use without the bezel, it leaves a gap between the knob and element. The other stem is so short it would strain to reach the threaded portion of the element if I tried to use the bezel. Which is appropriate?

Thanks Roy. Of the two, it is the better looking one.
