I need help from someone with a '96 convertible. When I bought this car in December the Radio Receiver Box was lying in the bottom of the storage compartment. A previous owner had tapped an after-market power amp into the speaker feeds (it was also lying at the bottom of the storage comparment) and replaced the delco/bose drivers with after market speakers. I'm attempting to return the audio system back to original. However, I can not figure out how to mount the Radio Receiver Box in the storage compartment.
The diagrams in the Service Manual indicate that the radio receiver box fits into the slot of the foam jack holder on the outboard side (first photo). If I remove the bracket from the receiver box (second photo) it fits nicely into the slot and and I see how everything connects and the wires are routed and tucked away. However, I am told that this is only correct for a coupe. Convertibles are suppose to use these confounded brackets somehow. This only makes sense since no one would have added these brackets - they must have been used orginally. I just can't figure out how.
I need to know how the holes called out by the red arrows in the second photo are used to mount the receiver box. If someone could describe this - and/or better yet - send me a photo of a properly mounted receiver box I would forever be in your debt.
Thanks in advance
