Who to send smog system to for restoration

Gentlemen,
I have a big block 69 & I do have the original smog pump & bracket and nothing else. I am going to have the car judged. I am seeking advice as to where to send my pump for restoration and who can supply the rest of the needed parts. I have spoken with Cranes in California and it seemed expensive, ( $2500.00 ) but is it ? Any help greatly appreciated.

I think that Bill Hodel will be your best bet. Unfortunately, the parts you have are not all that valuable. The pump bracket is available in reproduction and sells for about $75. It is very slightly different from originals, but I don't think the difference could be discerned on the car. The 69-75 style pumps are not too hard to come by---they were used on a vast number of 1969-75 GM vehicles. Plenty of cores out there.

Most of the other parts are available in reproduction and the reproductions are excellent. The exceptions as far as availability is concerned are the diverter valve and the adapter plate. Those are really the only BIG $$$ items in a 1969 big block system. Or, for that matter, the only BIG $$$ items in a 1969 small block system. Or, for another matter, the only BIG $$$ items in any 69-71 AIR system, big block or small block.

Once you have the original diverter valve, you're pretty much home free. However, getting it is going to be expensive.
