The build sheet that was on my gas tank (1967 VIN 5841 - 12/23/66 delivery to Friendly Chevrolet, Springfield, IL) has an ink line made with a pen through the N89 Bolt-on wheel option. At the bottom of the sheet is writing in pen that says R/N 525 - af. The car was ordered with the optional aluminum wheels, red line tires... I have seen another 1967 tank sheet two years ago at the Florida NCRS winter meet that had the same thing.
In talking with the original owners mom and brother, they think the car was delivered with rally wheels.
Two questions:
1. Is anyone familar with notations on the tank sheet - could GM have been out of stock on the wheels? I doubt that the guy that ordered the car would have requested the change - he was stationed in Vietnam and came home to take delivery and then sold the car nine months later...
2. I have an original set of bolt-ons and would like to have the car judged with these wheels. Would that be a problem given the build sheet?
Thank you - Jeff Cornwell
