I have been looking for motor mounts for my 1972. The AC Delcos (new part # but similar mount as original) were apparently discontinued last year sometime. I bought a set from Paragon and another set from Year One but returned both of them. The quality of both of these motor mount sets does'nt even come close to the original equipment. There is someone on the east coast with an Ebay ad who has bought the remaining AC Delco supply but wants around $160.00 each. I am still looking and now leaning to the poly mounts. Any help on locating a new quality set appreciated.

I think that you are talking about the GM motor mount and not AC Delco mounts. If AC-Delco ever carried branded motor mounts for 63-82 Corvettes, I feel pretty confident that they were aftermarket-type pieces and not the high quality PRODUCTION or PRODUCTION EQUIVALENT pieces once sold through GMSPO. Anyway, the GM motor mounts last available under GM #6258154 have been discontinued. These were the highest quality motor mounts one could buy and they were quite expensive even when they were still available from GM.
I don't know of any other equivalent-quality motor mounts that are available on the market today. All that I have seen were of foreign manufacture. That, of course, does not necessarily make them bad, but, at least with respect to appearance, they do not seem to be high quality. I have also heard of significant mount breakage problems with these mounts, especially when used with high HP applications. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Motor Mounts
Jeff-----
As far as what others are using for mounts, I can only speak for myself. I'm using GM #6258154 and the earlier GM #3990916 and 3980701 mounts. Long ago, I purchased a several lifetimes supply of these mounts [none for sale] so I'm pretty well set "for the duration".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Motor Mounts
Jeff, I think that you will see a significant increase in noise and vibration when using the poly mounts. I would go to a good part store, NAPA, Carquest, etc, not the parts mass merchandisers, and buy their premium mounts.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Motor Mounts
In general, NAPA sells very high quality stuff. However, in this case, I think you'll find that the motor mounts they sell are pretty much the same foreign-manufactured pieces sold by most others. I've looked "high-and-low" for a source for what I would regard as OEM-equivalent quality motor mounts and I've not found one yet. As I mentioned, I don't really need any for myself but I've been looking for quite awhile for some that I could recommend to others when questions like this one come up. I'm still looking, though. So, if anyone finds any, let me know.
I totally agree on the polyurethane motor mounts. I wouldn't "touch them with a 10 foot pole".Last edited by Joe L.; March 12, 2008, 04:19 PM.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
