Does anyone have tips on installing (melting) the plastic rivets that hold the plastic insulator to the top of a mid-year ignition shield? I have had limited success doing it in the past. Thanks

Don, I used a soldering gun to do mine which worked but was not completely satisfied with the result. Used some super glue gel to finish it off. I think others have suggested heating the head of a smooth (no markings) hex bolt and then pressing it against the rivet stem. Would think you might need some anti-stick agent between the rivet and bolt head…maybe wax paper. I seem to recall a past TDB article/post.

I would try baking parchment paper for the non-stick agent. It is oven safe up to 420 degrees F.
