    56 Vette stamp pad evaluation

There is a 56 white/red corvette on Bring A Trailer With the attached engine stamp. Says it was a recent Top Flight. The stamping |8593F 56GR indicates what? There were only 3467 cars built. What does the 8593 stand for?

    John,

I was used to represent the digit 1. That's an engine serial number, which has no correlation to the VIN.

More importantly the BAT listing says Florida Regional 2025 Top Flight certificate with Paul Schwack's name on it. Paul Schwack is not the current Florida Chapter Judging Chairman.

And to add to what Gary said, Paul Schwack let his membership expire in 2023. That's a bogus certificate.

I recognized many of the judges on the car judging sheets. Looks like Mike M. did mech. I sure would want to talk with some of them before I bid on the car.

The label on the summary sheet shows '42nd annual' and this January will be the 47th annual so that set of judging sheets is almost five years old - not from 2025.

The judging sheet discrepancy is less significant than the fact the engine pad is stamped incorrectly with only 5 digits. All "56 sequential engine numbers had 7 digits starting with 0001001. Doubt the car was a Top Flight possibly never judged since even a rookie judge would have spotted that discrepancy.

It would be good to post the auction link when these cars are questioned.

David is correct, two digits missing. The gang held the first five digits, so you should see the first five perfectly aligned in a straight line. The sixth and seventh digits were stamped individually so typically and almost without exception these two digits are not aligned with the first five and rarely with each other.

It’s picture from a bad angle. There are some possible traces on lightly stamped numbers to the left of the clear ones. It needs a straight on picture to know how many characters were stamped.

enhanced the image a bit for better readability...
Is that a " 1" and a "5" all the way on the left of the I85...?
what is the vertical bar-like character (|) to the right of the 3 ?

                    thx,

I think there is a 05 in front of the I8593
                      IMHO it reads
                      05I8593F56GR

Looks like that 0 is slightly lower than the first 5, you can see the curve at the top of the number to the left of the first 5 and it looks like the other side of the 0 falls almost directly on the paint line.
