Joe,
This may be one of your first real tests as the National Judging Chairman? This post is not about the 5 Star Judges award with all due respect to Harry and those great guys. It is about the Crossed Flags award.
I am acquainted with Josh (who started this post) and feel like a friend to both him and Mark Donnally. I get what they are saying and agree with the idea that we should move forward and include C4 Corvettes and their owners that deserve to be recognized differently TODAY by the NCRS for their great cars and accomplishments. I personally like C4's and think the NCRS should realize that all generations of the Corvette should be treated equally! When the Crossed Flags Award Judging standards and guidelines were written they were like new cars.
With that said, I am also a recipient of the Crossed Flags Award and see the point John is making. I agree with him as well. It was no small task getting that award with all the advancements and electronics on the C4 generation. If the NCRS is going to change the scope and qualifications of the Crossed Flags Award, then it should consider doing exactly what Mark suggests in his post on this thread dated September 17,2025, 09:49AM. Roll the C4's into the BOWTIE Award (the BOWTIE recipients may not agree) or come up with a new Award name with the new qualifications of a new award for the C4 cars or even the C4, C5 and beyond Corvettes. There could and should be a way to do this where both the previous recipients and those seeking recognition for their quest in Judging a C4 or newer today can both be awarded...
