Are C4 Corvettes able to earn Crossed Flag Stars

I have a couple very low mile C4 ZR-1s I hope to run through the system however, I would not want to add to the current mileage. One car stands at 64 total miles.
it is prudent, in my opinion, to align the C4s with current Bowtie guidelines. I would also advocate calling the award 'Bowtie' just like previous generations.

Mark I can’t wait to see that 1990 at a NCRS event so I can actually see under the hood and interior more up close in person. I’ve seen it at the Corvette Museum when it was housed there for a bit.

Also Mark thanks for advocating for this idea I’ve thrown out as the C4 team lead. I can agree calling it the Bowtie like other years or just changing the Crossed Flags guidelines and still calling it the Crossed Flags Perseveration Award of Excellence.

I am concerned that altering the name or criteria of the NCRS Chevrolet Crossed Flags Preservation Award will diminish the significance of the accomplishment of those of us who have earned this distinction, including those of us who have also earned the 5-Star designation.
My award letter clearly states: “This award was developed as the ultimate award for an unrestored Corvette and honors those vehicles that have been able to meet the necessary challenge.” That challenge is not trivial. It demands an extraordinary level of preservation, attention to detail, and adherence to NCRS standards. Achieving this recognition reflects dedication, expertise, and respect for originality. While thoughtful evolution of programs is often beneficial, I believe it must be approached with care and reverence for the legacy and effort embedded in existing standards. Change should enhance—not dilute—the meaning of what has already been earned.

John I don’t think it will take anything away from the people that have earned the Crossed Flags award with the current route. I respect the people that have acquired this award, but I think aligning the C4 and C5 with the C1-C3 Bowtie award is a move that could be beneficial to having more cars shown off at future events that otherwise wouldn’t be shown off because the owner felt that there car could never obtain the Mark of Excellence before obtaining the Crossed Flags award.

I think you could leave the Crossed Flags Award how it is now for the owners that have achieved a McLellan/Hill award and are judged significant to earn a 4 Star Bowtie. If they obtain a 4 Star Bowtie and a MOE they get a Crossed Flags Award. If they are judged for a 4 Star Bowtie, but don’t ever obtain a MOE they only get the Bowtie Award or a 1, 2, 3 Star. If the owner gets a 1, 2, or 3 Star Award and then a McLellan/Hill award then they wouldn’t be able to obtain the Crossed Flags Award. I think that keeps the significance of the Crossed Flags Award while opening up more cars to a Star or Bowtie award.
