Does anyone have details on the correct location of the inspection # decals (3 & 7) on the expansion tank and radiator on a late November/early December 63?

Todd,
I’m not convinced there ever was a “correct” location on the expansion tank. These photos show some of the variability. No doubt they were applied by different workers during any given year and the stickers wound up wherever it was quickest to put them.

PS: I would add that centered and straight was not a requirement nor a goal.

Not the clearest picture, but you can see where the radiator decal is placed. Also, included a picture of the surge tank. Now, these are on my '67 but placement didn't change over the C2 run.Leif

In 1963 there is no 16CT stamp on the Radiator. Also, there is a warning label where your inspection sticker and 16CT are located so there is no way that the inspection sticker could end up there. That being said, all the original 63 and 64 cars I have ever seen have the small inspection number on the top of the radiator close to the tube that leads to the expansion tank. I'm not saying that every car for the 2 years were that way, but every original car I have ever seen was that way.

I just wanted to clarify this expansion tank and radiator sticker placement for the early 63 cars. On my second week November (62) car the ethylene glycol antifreeze sticker goes on the expansion tank along with a number sticker. The radiator has a thicker aluminum sticker on the passenger side along with the number sticker near the balance hose, correct?- Top
