    1966 Wiper Motor problems

Hoping someone has an answer to my wiper motor problem on my 66 restoration. Wiper motor was in one of the many boxes that made up my car. I disassembled, cleaned, lubed, and completely bench tested it. It ran both speeds and parked. Installed before body drop - now I have power to the car with all new harnesses. Here is what it does:
Turn key on and wipers comes on in the PARK position, but keeps wanting to park over and over but does not shut off unless key is turned off. Low speed, high speed both work, but with switch in OFF position - it keeps on "parking"

I have combed through MANY pages in archives and have tried everything suggested. Many problems stem on "not parking", mine park over and over but do not turn off. I have checked grounds many times (even ran new grounds). I have also replaced the switch.

I do not have windshield or wiper arms on, but simulated tension has been applied with exact same results.

At one time, about 3 times in a row - it worked properly - then it didn't, and hasn't since.

It has been mentioned the Park Relay could be an issue. Haven't found any documentation on parts breakdown of the relay. Not thrilled about trying to take the relay off with the wiper motor in the car...or taking the wiper motor completely out. Dash and under dash all installed.

Hopefully I have covered all the details. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Tim

    Tim,

Remove the washer pump (you can do this in the car) and see if the spring for the park relay is intact. I had that recently on my midyear......it was missing. I had a very similar and yet inconsistent problem. Actually, check to see that both springs pictured are intact.

Both springs are there. Could it be possible the smaller park relay spring is weak? Where did you source a new one?
      Thanks for the reply.
