    Engine pad stamp authenticity.

    Hi Everyone,

I would appreciate your thoughts on this engine pad stamping. Factory, or not.

A sharp, in-focus, image will most likely get you more and better responses.

That said, there appear, to me, many diagonal (circular?) scratches above VIN stamp. (better focus of image in this area)

This gives me impression of a block that has been decked. Also, stamp pad appears to set below height of water pump casting - again impression of a decked block.

    Sharp in-focus images would help.

What is block casting number, casting date? What is VIN of car in question?

7120855 IL.jpgAppears OEM. Look at the assembly stamp of VIN 20855 ...same date and character set.

Black Book indicates last Vin for month of May 67 was 19747.

In addition to all said above, based on some commonly held beliefs about 1967 production quantities per day and per week (which may, or may not be accurate), comparing your engine assembly date with your VIN Derivative on the pad, I'd estimate your Body Build Date (BBD) on your the trim plate is either K9 or K12.

We'll see if that’s close when (or if) you can post a shot of your Trim and VIN plates.

Both fit within commonly accepted timeframes from engine assembly; shipment to St. Louis; and final assembly (14 calendar days or 9 production days if BBD=K9; 17 calendar days or 12 production days if BBD=K12)

                    Jacob,
Your car was assembled on Monday and mine was assembled two days later on Wednesday. The same guy who double stamped your pad must have done mine, as well. I think you're good to go.

                      Very Cool, Jack...

I noted that the "5" was more faint on both EADs, so that must have been wearing out - or set deeper in the gang stamp tool at Tonawanda...

                      thx,

FWIW, Stamping from my 67 one day prior. Shows same "light" 5 after the deeper "0"
