Just a note that in cleaning out the driver's side door on my '63 Convt. (late December '62 build), I found written in pencil the letters "BL" as shown in the picture below. Below that near the door bottom in similar handwritten in pencil, the build sequence of the car "430" was found. Note this on the inner door skin just above the door handle. No writing at all on the passenger door skin.
I had previously uncovered the word "Black" written in about 3 inch lettering with green crayon on the luggage stop, just behind the passenger seat in what seems to be a holdover from the C1 era. The trim tag shows Black/Red for the orignal color combination. I'm assuming that "BL" is another reference to the color Black. Just passing along in case anyone notices something similar or if this was possibly just unique to black cars in '63?
