Earliest 69 built with the N14 option

A corvette forum member just posted that his car, a Nov 68 build car, left the factory with the N14 option. That would make his car the earliest N14 optioned car to my knowledge. Here is a link to the thread and a picture of his tank sticker.https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1607276658

      Jon,
Contact Chuck Berge who will remember the 400 A/C car that surfaced in Hampton in 2014 with a validated window sticker. That was a November 68 car IIRC. At that point I think that was the earliest known N14 car. Others may have surfaced since.

Yes it was. That car opened eyes at Hampton. In addition it was a fantastic car.

            Dave,
was that a different 400hp N14 car than the one above?

Re: Earliest 69 built with the N14 option

The dealer zone 05 820 was shipped to Bill Sight Chevrolet in Kansas City, Mo, so it wasn't an internal GM order. It's 250 miles between St. Louis and Kansas City so no obvious connection to the assembly plant.
I assume this is a legit tank sticker.
What is interesting the astronauts (Conrad, Gordon and Bean) all wanted N14 side exhaust on their 69 Corvettes. What astronaut wouldn't want side exhaust!!
Their orders could not be processed so they took their gold/black Corvettes without N14.
Selling/lease price for astronaut Corvettes or cars were $1.
The order system timing could not coordinate the special paint and the new for 1969 N14 option.

There certainly are some interesting things on that document, Ralph. I see your name on the bottom. Thank you for posting this.

                          Edward,
Try calling Courtesy Chevrolet and speak to the general manager Justin True or Alex Espinoza sales manager
                          619 297-4321.

Courtesy Chevrolet has been located on the same street for decades in San Diego, Ca.
Courtesy has used several dealer zone locations besides 34-137, including a DBA in Thousand Oaks with a different dealer ID.
It is possible this dealership had a connection for new cars that were prepped for Chevrolet advertising/marketing/sales departments
                          located in that area.
Also, there was a change for the 1969 hardtop chrome "end spears" that occurred around the time your car would have been built,
but was randomly executed and don't know how this is judged based on the latest NCRS manual.
                          Good luck!

                            Hugh,
Thank you very much for that contact info! I have been thinking of calling them as I knew they were still in business but just figured they would not want to waste there time with the owner of a car they sold 54 years ago.
                            Thanks again,
                            Ed
