In the 68 AIM, UPC U69 Sheet B1 shows that the antenna ground plate (Item 5, #3921443) is to be fitted with 5 bumpers (Item 13, #3825096).
The revision record shows that the bumpers were added to the drawing on August 22, 1967. How long it would have taken for the drawing revision to have resulted in a revised part is uncertain.
I understand that the start of production for the 68 model year was possibly as early as late August, but certainly in September 1967. This seems to suggest that a stock of the original-design antenna ground plates would have been at the assembly plant in preparation for start of production.
The antenna ground plate on my February 68-built car has neither bumpers nor any holes for their installation.
My question is this: Should early 68's be expected not to have the bumpers?
