Air filter does not fit on my carb

I'am building an engine for my '65 327/300 using New and old parts "all original" and my airfilter does not fot, it seems like I'am 1" short of my carb, looks like it need a 1" shim.
Can anyone tell what I'am doing wrong?

I'm unsure what you mean by it seems an inch short. Are you talking about the base or the filter element itself? And short of fitting where?

Can you post a couple pics of the parts you have?

Airfilter doesn't fit.

Help wanted for my non fitting aircleaner, it does not fit on my carb, I'am building an engine for my '65 327/300 194675S104084 with new and old parts all original, when I try to put on the aircleaner it seem like I need an 1" shim.
The crankcase vent tube is to high so my arrestor won't fit correctly.
Does anyone have an idea or pics of his car ?aircleaner.jpg

Isn't there suppose to be a large plastic spacer between the carb and the intake manifold. About 3/4 inches thick. That would raise the air cleaner.

The last pic is a the insulator spacer not mounted. Now it is in place but I'am still about 1" short.

Would you mind posting a pic of top and bottom sides of the air cleaner base and the complete top of the carburetor?

Owen, I agree we need more information. I'm a 63 guy not 65. Looks to me like the wrong air cleaner, too thick. Manifold? Carb?
Think we need all he casting numbers and many more pictures.

There was a Corvette forum thread where the photo looks just like yours (from the looks of the avatars, Harry commented then too):

Due to a different air horn diameters for the 250 and 350/365 HP engines they had different bases and maybe different tubes, so there could have been as many as three for '65. Check you AIM. You might have the incorrect part for a 300 HP engine. I agree that the photos look like the same part, so maybe you have the wrong air cleaner base.

There are lots of errors in parts catalogs, both GM and aftermarket.

Here's a pic of an original on eBay. Seems the length from the bracket through the upward curve to the hose stop is much shorter than what you show on your engine.

There were 3 different tubes used over the 1964-65 period but I do not recall how they differed in configuration. The one used for this application was GM #3846110 which was discontinued in 1977. 1965 with L-76 and L-79 used a different tube.
