Having completed the rebuild / restoration on my '65s power steering pump, control valve, and slave cylinder with each unit restored / rebuilt by well known reputable sources, then assembling all the components, bleeding the system, etc, I/we have found (after a very short test drive) that there is no pressure coming out of power steering pump (GM #5693140).
After pulling the pump off, we removed the fitting (GM #561757) and the pressure relief control valve (GM #5692407) to see if we could find any contaminants that would not allow the valve to operate "freely." None were found. Upon further investigation, we were "a little surprised" to see that the valve in my pump does not have the slot in it (similar to other GM power steering pump valves and and the fitting only has a very small hole in the shaft. Leading us to wonder, if my steering pump was rebuilt with an incorrect valve and/or fitting).
Can anyone help me to determine if the valve and the fitting shown in the pictures below are correct.
And, would anybody know if parts are currently available for purchase (if necessary)?
Any / all help is appreciated . . . .
