63 front shocks - Real or ??

Took these off the coupe as they are soft. Real or ??, Any opinions.

And, not having a 1967 or TIMJG for said car, is this true for 67s? Black? As long as my friends front suspension is out, I suggested he paint his yellow shocks.

63/64 Black. 65/66/67 Bluish Gray.

Don is correct. '65-'67 are blue-gray. My '65 originals still had traces of the blue-gray when I bought the car. Showing this complete original set for earlier '66 cars as an example. My friends and I suspect the black overspray is remnants of dealership undercoating/Z-Bar? Bought these for my '66 from a Delco engineer that worked in the Dayton plant. He collects shocks. Mike

great photos, Mike and clearly shows the colors. I am relying on memory (gets more suspect monthly) but my Quanta shock grey is more grey than that. We know that yours are original and I am too lazy right now to go down and pull out my 72 shocks to see how they stack up to yours. Mine were original to the car but were absolutely flat. Play them like an accordian.

Gary, I would agree with your "...my Quanta shock grey is more grey than that", bluish gray would be the call.....

My front shocks are original '63's Loren. But not the originals from St. Louis assembly line. They have a lot of paint on them as were painted three times.
First black, then gray and now black. haha

63/64 Black. 65/66/67 Bluish Gray.

Don, I have a pair of early 64 and they were gray , I am not saying the all 64’s were gray. These shocks have 63 date and the correct 64 part no. These are sitting on a shelf in garage If you need more info.i did re paint them.the same color gray.they came of a barn find, the rear shocks were long gone.

OK, then I guess like man-caused global warming, it is not yet settled science. I will change my answer to 63 black, 64 (?), 65,66,67 Bluish gray.
