Must be a air driven motor to drive the fuel pump.

Re: Very early December 1956 FI unit
Sorry, I don't have one. However, it is pictured in Noland Adams 1st book with a caption "would you buy this mess?"
Also the car is currently owned by Jim Jeagers who owns Cincinnati Microwave/Escort Radar Detectors.
My old car was restored by Tim Partridge in the 80s and tauted as a Sebring racer and sold to Jim.
Jim Gessner I believe inspected the car a few years ago.
I tried to call you the other day but never received a call back.- Top

Re: Very early December 1956 FI unit
I have been looking around on the C1 Corvette registry and see that V.I.N. 288, 646, claim to be originally factory equipped with FI and 806 claims "Car was manufactured on Nov. 5, 1956 (Monday), the 3rd day of regular production of fuel-injected Corvettes, which began on Nov. 1 (Thursday of a 5-day work week). This car is likely among the first ten or so fuel-injected Corvettes." There are other early cars shown with FI but don't make claims of being factory built FI cars.
Were they actually producing FI cars that early?- Top

Yes.. I think Kens book lists the number of FI cars by month. The Engineering Workorder that ordered the cars from St.Louis to be sent to Engineering in Warren, Mi. For preparation for the Nassau Race were ordered as white and FI. However availability was limited. New engines and FI units for the Nassau cars were ordered from Flint and Rochester and delivered direct to Engineering for installation.- Top
