original blue 1953

I had a discussion with a collector that claims he has a restored original BLUE 1953 Corvette that he discovered in a barn several years ago. He claims to have won many "Best of Show" Awards with his 1 of 2 Original BLUE 53's. Not 1954 but 1953.
Has anyone information about this rare color and car?

All 1953's were polo white from GM - there were 300 made

I judge exterior on 53 - 57. A blue 53 is like a white model-T. As Henry Ford said, you can have any color car you want as long as it's black. Or, you can have any color 53 you want as long as it's Polo White.

Or a steel bodied Corvette or a 67 small block with a BB hood.

Decades ago the International Registry of Early Corvettes did a color survey. They found all 53 were white. 54 and 55 they called "the colorful Corvettes" in which there were a number of strange original color combos. Polo white with a blue interior for example.

The car in question is most likely a 54 or a 53 that had been changed. However, I do believe that it is always possible that the right person could get a COPO and a different color. Or perhaps a Pennant Blue pilot car was made in 53 in anticipation of its debut in 54. Unlikely but possible.
