53, 54, 55 6V battery details and photos
When we updated the 53-55 TIMJG we did not have definitive information on the OEM 6V Delco battery. Still looking for photos of an original.
Really need to know how and where the date code was done? The TIMJG shows it in the tar, which is typical of other batteries, but one member sent me a photo showing it stamped into one of the lead straps on the top. Definitely would like to confirm what is correct.
Secondly we'd like to know what order the date code is in. Month, year, plant or other sequence?
Lastly, does the factory installed battery have a catalog number on it?
Four decades ago I had an original battery with a cracked case because it froze. Unfortunately I tossed it when the Navy moved me and never took photos. Wish I had.
