I have a 1969 L89 Corvette with 23K miles and an 1970 LS6 Chevelle with 15K miles on it, both contained the original horn relays. I noticed that the horn relay in my Corvette was giving me trouble so I went to swap it with the one on my Chevelle. My Corvette is a late January 69 car and my Chevelle is a late May 70 car and they both used 890 horn relays. While I was switching them I noticed that the Corvette relay had 890 over 12-V and the word BAT on the bus rail, while the original horn relay in my Chevelle said 890 over 12V and did not have the word BAT on the bus rail. I had an 889 relay which is used during 1971 and noticed that relay also had no BAT on the bus rail and the 889 was moved to they bottom of the relay. It looks like during the switch from 890 to 889 during the 70 model year parts for the 889 relay such as the bus rail must have been used in the remaining production of the 890 relays. I was wondering if there are any other late 1970 cars with this second type of 890 relay.
