1960 door unlocking problem

Working on my '60 and having a problem with the drivers door lock.
Had door handles & lock cylinders out during restoration and when installed having problem.

Problem - I cannot get the door to unlock using the key or interior door lock handle.
It does unlock when pulling the interior door handle.
The key works the locking mechanism when door is open.
I did not remove the door lock mechanism during restoration. (tried to clean it up while in place)
The passenger side works correctly.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had this problem on my 61. Fixed it by greasing the key,working it in and out,and turning it.
