    Rear defogger

I noticed a heated rear window on a original beautiful 1976 having a heating element Was this a option for a 1977 also? Was this glass or plastic?

76 & 77 used the heated glass, option C49. Prior years were forced air from a fan in a "B" pillar, option C50.

Yes, the rear window defogger was available for 1977 (as well as 1978-82) under RPO C49. ALL C3 rear windows were GLASS, including 1968-75 removable hard-top rear windows.

After 1969, all Corvettes received all window tinted glass as standard equipment.

Where can you obtain the 76-77 rear defogger glass today? Well, one could look for an NOS GM #371416. Otherwise, I don't know.

Frank, I am unaware of a repro but haven't looked, either. A Corvette dismantled, junk yard to us old guys, may be best bet. Try Corvette Central or Paragon. I ordered my '77 with and surprisingly it still works. Steve

Thanks my rear window is distorted on top so after looking at this pristine 76 yesterday at a corvette only show it is motivating me to pursue some new glass.
