I have always thought the Founders Award was pretty cool, and only 276 people have earned it. I always enjoyed the guys who get it joining our road tours and getting the older cars out on the road to the National, for instance. I may try someday, if I can learn to write something anyone would be interested in reading in the Restorer.......

You DO realize the story doesn't need to be published in order to qualify for the Founders Award? It simply has to be produced and submitted to The Restorer Editor. The purpose of the story is not to probe the writing skills of the author.

A Bowtie isn't "difficult" at all. Either the car is worthy of the award or it isn't. Nothing to it. Nothing for the owner to do except clean it lightly and present it for originality judging.

I drove the 1970 LT1 on the Road Tour to Collinsville National Convention. I believe that convention still holds the record for the highest ambient temperature of any NCRS National. It is a good thing I was substantially younger back then. I doubt I would survive that trip now days.
