Am rebuilding / restoring my drive train from the trans back and am about ready to begin reassembly. Looking in the TIM / JG for info on "inspection paint dabs" on the: driveshaft, diff, U-joints, half-shafts (axles) and rear suspension components. I find no mention of inspection paint dabs in the judging guide on any of these components.
I researched the TD forum for info on this issue - some members stated that not all cars coming down the assembly line received inspection paint dabs. I am guessing this is why there is no mention of paint dabs in the judging guide, it was not a universal process.
Since it does not list or mention paint dabs on the components I listed above, am I correct in assuming that I do not need to apply them? I assume there will be no point deduction if they are not present - correct?
So, the question is, is it necessary to apply inspection paint dabs?
I know Quanta sells an inspection marking kit with every conceivable color that might be needed - key word is "might".
