I'm planning on replacing the missing washer tubes on my wiper arms. Two questions. Does the wiper door have to come out? And how are the wiper arms removed? Doesn't seem obvious but I'm thinking that bending them all the way back to release them is how they work. Thanks in advance!

I found this pic. Is the circle around the retaining clip you're talking about? And does the wiper door have to come off?Attached Files- Top

Re: Wiper arm removal 1972
That is the clip however it is just a pressure clip. It isn't designed as I had in mind so I don't think it needs to be released as I had earlier stated to slide the arm off. You can get a cheap tool from the corvette suppliers that make it easier to get the arm off or you can take a wide blade flat screw driver placing it between the wiper and the post and twist or turn raising the w/arm. I don't have a C3 here with a wiper door to look at, but I would guess you don't need to take the door off.
PS. If you use the tool I referred to, then you would need to remove the door.- Top

Here is a pic of the cheap tool Russ mentioned. Available at most auto parts stores or online for around $7.00 or so. There are tons of videos on YouTube showing how to use it. I wouldn't waste my money on it if I were you, JMO! You can just carefully use a screw driver as Russ suggests. I bought that tool, but I couldn't get my wiper arms off with it, plus it was marking the top of my arms when you push down on it. Got out the screwdriver and popped the arms off in seconds. Just make sure to disconnect your washer hoses first. I've used the screwdriver method forever, and I've removed tons of arms in my father's body shop. But, like anything else there are guys who swear by the tool. I too have a 73 so I'm not quite sure about the wiper door either.

Re: Wiper arm removal 1972
I did some googling and saw the screwdriver thing. Got the passenger side off but ran out of time for the drivers. Anyone have ideas how they will go on with the door in place? It's real tight with my big hand and I don't want to do paint damge. Thanks!- Top
