    bleeding clutch on 91 ZR-1

I need to bleed the clutch on my '91 ZR-1. The manual says to remove the nuts on the slave cylinder and lower it down below the cat and hold it level and have someone depress the clutch to bleed it as you would the brakes. Problem is, I can't get it out as it hits the shift control module on the side of the transmission which doesn't appear to want to come out. So, can I bleed it with it in the normal position?
    thanks

no, u can't bleed it as mounted since the bleeder valve is below the slave cylinder( i.e., the bleeder is at the lowest point of the cylinder). locating the bleeder on the bottom of the cylinder was a stupid move by whoever supplied the slave cylinder to GM, or it was a stupid move by GM in mounting the slave cylinder such that the bleeder was at the bottom. trapped air will rise above brake fluids and u can bleed the cylinder till the cows come home and not remove air. remove the slave, and rotate it 180 degrees so the bleeder is facing the sun. then u can bleed it with the help of a buddy. mike

I agree. It was really dumb to mount the bleeder on the bottom of the slave cylinder. The only reason I can figure that they did it was because it was somehow advantageous in PRODUCTION. However, in PRODUCTION I believe the slave cylinder, master cylinder, and connecting line were installed as an assembly and was pre-bled.

Is this problem only with the ZR1 or all of the C4s?
