Richard, how very nice of you, at the start of this project, to call it a "system". Please get a clipboard, multiple pieces of paper and at least two pens and try to keep track of the descriptive terms that you use for the "system" during this project. Best regards.

Don't worry Loren it will be over-documented when I'm done.

Rich, this is excellent info. Have you given any thought to publishing all of this info, say in book form? It's cumbersome to read in the "forum" type format. I for one, would be interested in purchasing some sort of power top instruction booklet.

Stephen, Thanks for the compensation offer but I never charge anything for any of my documents.

Dave Zuberer is following and is creating a PDF of a culmination of this and from another thread I did elsewhere. It'll be easier to read offline and if you have enough paper and ink you'll be able to print it out. When I'm done I'll post the final PDF version when done. Unfortunately we have a 2.86MB file size limit here so when it's done I can email to those interested. Right now it's too big(apx 4MB) to attach. If you'd like to see it, PM your email address and I'll send to you.

Dave has created many PDF's from my forum threads and from my old website documents. I posted a thread a while back with a long list of attachments, some mine, some others, for C1 and C2 info. I got some from others and Dave is also working on additional docs which we'll add to that post. Dave did a great job on many of them to add details, make them easier to read and makes them more professional looking.

            Re: 1959 Power Top System

I did a dry electrical bench test of the system and all worked fine when I manually set the limit switches and used a test lamp at each solenoid input.

I added ATF but ran into a few static leaks and a pressurized leak. One of the valves port lugs was leaking so I had to take it apart and re-seal it. The 1/8" Pipe Thread port in the valve body had damaged threads, likely from my removal drilling of the old steel plugs, so I had to re-tap and seal it again and let it cure overnight. I'll try a hydraulic test later.

Earlier I flushed out all cylinders and hoses using Brake Cleaner spray then used compressed air to clean them out. Further testing under load will be the real test. If I have to I'll spring for new cylinders and hoses but for now I'd rather use restored original parts if I can.

Here's the "system" bench test setup. I have a small battery and a high amp battery charger as a boost if needed,
