    Patrick,
i believe this was the Corvette SS.
Don't believe it exists any longer as the chassis was used to build the Sting Ray Racer.

This car (1957 SS) is on display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum. (The mule got used for the Sting Ray Racer.)

Corvette News Vol. 11 No. 1 has an article about GM donating the SS to the Indianapolis Speedway Museum in May 1967.

I had the opportunity to tour the Indianapolis Speedway museum about a month ago while I attended the Bloomington Gold event, where I witnessed this very beautiful blue car. The display sign next to it told me something that surprised me....that the car had a "magnesium body". I had no idea....I always thought it was aluminum. I'd send a photo, but I'm not familiar enough to download it.
