'61 dual carbs - do they need cleaning and if so how

Will I lose any points if the carburetors are left like this. If so, what's the recommended stain removal process?

I don't know about points but I've found brake cleaner gets those fuel stains off the intake manifold and carb lid....

It's been awhile since my '61 was judged at a Regional NCRS meet. My carbs look like yours but I received no deducts on condition. Frank is right but some of the discoloring will still be there.

Coincidentally before going to a local car show Saturday, I cleaned my 2x4 intake and 2 carbs's on my '59(ironically a Oct '61 engine and '61 ancillaries.....since I bought it 29 years ago). I use the car much and it was looking a little tired under the hood. I used lacquer thinner and plumbers brushes, cotton swabs and rags. Cleaned up fine.

edit......BTW yes you'll probably get a few hits for the "Condition" if you don't pretty them up a bit. And they do not like to see leakage traces on anything.
