1954 Rear Convertible Latch Spring Question

I need a little help on how to correctly install the springs in the convertible top rear "sawtooth" latches. The latches had broken springs when I got them, so I purchased 2 new ones but not quite sure on how to install. Attached is a photo of what I have.

I know that the little hook end on the spring fits into the small pinhole and the spring tab inside the spring fits in the slot of the latch shaft - a photo of an installed latch would be helpful....

Any helpful advise or a photo would be appreciate.
    Thanks, John Lanning

John, If you don't get a answer soon, I'm going to a friends house later today who has a '54 and will try to get a few pictures for you.

I know nothing about the details of the '53-'55 tops, but ironically will be installing a rag on that '54 in the future. Then I'll have a little more knowledge in my head.

    p.s. maybe like this?

Thank you very much Rich, I will give this a try since it seemed to be how it should work best. Hopefully if plans go as expected I will have the bodywork completed and maybe the top installed later this year. Right now trying to get the little pieces finished up over the winter.
      Good Luck?

Re: 1954 Rear Convertible Latch Spring Question

Thanks Chris ... my problem I believe is due to the difference in the replacement springs I purchased from CC which is larger than the origionals...
