I have a friend that is using Ever-Coat, Slick Sand on a frame off restoration on a 1955 Corvette. After he applied this product and sanded it the car looked great. He said that the sanding went very quickly. The car has not been painted and will be painted in lacquer paint. I am doing a frame off on a 1969 convertible and was thinking about using this product. Has anyone ever used this product on their Corvette? Thanks Steve

Re: Primer-Surfacer for Frame Off
I would think floor jacks and jack stands would chip it all up. The die wipe marks and tooling marks would be lost too. If one was to only fill pits it should be ok. Don't fill in seams as it will look fake. But I would suggest a regular "bondo" type of filler that is heavier and more apt to last in the pits. Rust has to be TOTALLY removed or the fillers will lift.- Top

Re: Primer-Surfacer for Frame Off
Steve,
I think most 2 part primers are best. The one I used was not easy to sand but locked down glass damage. I used a 2 part on a glass rudder cap that looked like it was growing hairthat looked like a throw away and it sealed the surface. Only needed one more coat and the glass looked new. It hides the photographing of the glass where the weave or repair starts to show thru after a few years. they ALL say non shrinking but they all shrink a little. My 67 showed shrinkage as to where it was glued to other panels, so even the glass panels will shrink after many years, not much, but a little.

Re: Primer-Surfacer for Frame Off
I use slick sand over the top after all my repairs are complete (bodies)
It is high build.
It buries repairs and helps control repair mapping
I like it since it uses MEKp hardener vs reducer
Less shrinkage
Many guys use Feather Fill - also by Evercoat - but has less build.
I like it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by Chris S.; December 17, 2014, 08:29 AM.1954 Corvette #3803 - Top Flight 2012, Bloomington Gold 2012,
