When I move the wiper switch on (1968 Corvette), it takes some time or recycling of the switch for the wipers to operate. Once the wipers start working, they operate fine and continue operating normally for the duration. They will go on/off multiple times without issue once they have started working. Could there be a grounding problem? I have used multiple switches but the problem persists. Thanks for any suggestions?

Re: Intermittent C3 Wiper Operation
Hi William,
Is it possible that the wiper door is taking it's leisure in fully opening and pushing the button on the wiper door limit switch?
The wiper circuit isn't complete until the button is pushed.
Is the recycling of the switch you're doing taking up the time it takes for the door to fully open?
Maybe?

Re: Intermittent C3 Wiper Operation
Unfortunately not because the door can be open without the wipers being responsive to the switch. Thanks for the suggestion. BillBill Hyndman

Re: Intermittent C3 Wiper Operation
I think Alan is thinking along the same lines as I am...
Try to manually open your wiper door. Get out of the car and make sure that the limit switch is fully engaged. You can even try to give the door a nudge and see if it needs to go just a bit further to fuilly engage the switch. Get back in the car and try to engage the wipers with the switch. If they engage properly, you know that the switch needs to be adjusted.
You might also have an issue with the wiper override knob below the dash. Your wiper motor might be getting signal that the override has has been engaged.- Top

Re: Intermittent C3 Wiper Operation
Hi,
I guess the 'plunger' on the wiper mechanism could need an adjustment too that would ensure the button is pushed a just TINY bit sooner in the door opening cycle.
The plunger and it's stop nut appear to be designed to allow an adjustment as needed.

Re: Intermittent C3 Wiper Operation
Thanks Alan. You were right, it seemed to be the wiper limit switch. Now, my other issue is the door doesn't always go down when the wipers are parked and it looks like when it does, that the door is sitting on the top wiper. Thanks for your suggestions. BillBill Hyndman
