Jim, the pics you are interested in seeing are imbedded in the word doc that I attached in my most recent post. The attachment is in a zip file, look for "Door Glass Removal.zip" above. I want all to know that I did not take the pics nor did I write the narrative. I found a "how to" article with the accompanying pics on the web. I copied it to a word doc for my convenience and future reference as I expect to be removing some door glass from my 64 convertible this winter. I am taking the liberty to share it with all interested. I wish I could give credit to the original author but I didn't copy that info and I have no idea who it might be.

Hi Rob, I am the "Roger" that authored the last segment of the "Vent Window Weather stripping replacement.doc" that Ed attached to his post. I replaced the cracked weather stripping and re-chromed the vent window frames on my '65 convertible. I posted by project on the Corvette Forum and, I believe, on this TDB, too. Both should have some photos in the thread and a narrative of my trials & tribulations. Do a search for "vent window Roger" on both Forums and you should find my threads and possibly some posts in other threads. My CF name is RK-TECT, so you can search that name on the CF site. You are also welcome to send me a PM with any questions and/or your phone number and I would be happy to give you my "words of wisdom" from my experience. Good luck, Roger

Dave Zuberer is a Fellow member here and if you email or PM him he'll send you anything you need. Dave and I have co-authored a few documents lately. He loves to do this stuff and really good at it. He's been converting html files to a more convenient format for me.

Here are some photos of a sequence when I restored the wife's '63 coupe door vent window weatherstrips. You can save all of them or just pertinent ones for future reference. Since we now have unlimited file quantity uploads(see this thread), I've included them here for anyone in the future to access them.

This way if I get hit by a bus or something and they close my Comcast Website, Photobucket and YouTube accounts...... they won't ever go away from here.

Here are photos of the original 1963 coupe door weatherstrips.....Note the detail of the upper forward SS beads where it fits into the vent window upper channel.

Here are some sequence photos of a 1967 convertible side window and channels. The drivers side glass was loose inside the sash and rattled loudly. I had to clean out the bondo someone used to hold the glass in. Then used new window glass tape the reinstall, using a rubber mallet to set the glass. The rear channels were cleaned and restored using new felts.

And while I'm at it, here's a common problem with midyear doors. The large "Lag Screw" that holds the lower rear vent window frame to the door. It's a delicate area that can get broken out on convertibles when pushing on the vent frame to open or close the door. This one had bondo in a prior life. I had to build up a mat and resin mix to re-form the area to properly hold the frame and capture the lag screw properly.

Okay....... no more pictures I'm gonna get spanked.

Re: C2 Door Windows Assembly How-To?

            Bob,
I've been doing my coupe for the last 2 days and am unable to download some of Rogers pics. I am at the point of installing the side window WITH vent assay in place. It's a 67 coupe and I had to walk away from it last nite.
My doors are off and on a door pivot so I can turn them to any position.
When I replaced the vent window rubber I removed the rivets that held it to the frame, slid the post thru the hole in the rubber then riveted the vent window on the assay. I used the rivets that were supplied that were to be used for the lfront liner to the vent assay. I have a rivet squeezed that folds the ends of the rivets haut the way they were and that worked great.
Can't see how the vent assy could go in after side window. I did the squeeze trick on the snaps, lubes them, and made a 1/4 " by 1 1/4 wide tool to push the snaps in place. For me, the snaps are a battle, they seem way to big for the hole.
The manual didn't help, but some pics on this thread sure did.
I'm off to the shop now to finish side window!!! I hope. Good luck with yours. By the way, the rivets I used on the vent window pivot were available and I had extra's in stock. The extras were used to rivet small brake linings on pads & shoes.

Re: C2 Door Windows Assembly How-To?

              Dom,
On the Coupe, I place the main glass into the door first, not attached to the regulator, so it can rest against the bottom of the door, as far back as possible. Then I install the vent assembly, the upper horizontal/rear vertical window run channel. After that I move the main glass up into the run channels and attach it to the regulator. Last I install the lower rear guide-track.
              Hope this helps.
              Marco

Re: C2 Door Windows Assembly How-To?

                Marco,
That's just about the way I did it. I loosened the vent assy with the window on the bottom of the door and slid the window up the channels then attached the rear channel. The vent channel moved enough to give me the start.
After the window was up the vent window was almost exactly in place.
The biggest problem before I started was the upper channel clips. I squeezed them lubed them and fought them. The distance between the clips was slightly different than the oblong holes. CHINA.

                    Rob,
I didn't read all the posts, but my AIM and manual didn't help me much. I have power windows and a black & blue arm. I will finish up the other door today. I found that placing the regulator mechanism with the power window motor in first (after the top & back rail is snapped in with the back rail temporarily in place, I then mounted the wiping rubber to the door. I then put the vent window/ front rail in place, ( not secured ) and lowered the window into the door. I then remove the screws that were temporaily holding the back rail in place and worked the window into the front & back rails and then pushed it up. After it was up I secured the vent/ front rail and back rail. at this point I did not attach the window to the regulator assembly, i adjusted the window to go up & down smoothly and used spray silicone. once the window moved smothly I connected it to the regulator assembly. I didn't find the power window info much help because the motor didn't have much room to move and could not be positioned with the vent/front rail ln unsecured.
You may be better with the manual than I was and hope you don't have to use the language I did on the first door. I got pretty good at installing then removing parts a few times. the other door is going along just fine but had to stop last nite for a get together.

I wrote all this so I can read it when I do my other C2.

                      Hi Dom,

I think it is more or less clear now how to approach the job. Another think I'm not looking forward at is getting the weatherstrip attached to the mouldings with those awful staples...

                        Rob,
I misled you on my post. I had to do same as first door, install my motor after window.
What I did do for the moldings was use a dremmel and removed all sharp edges that the moulding snapped into. Then lubed the holes and snaps. I put tape at each snap hole to identify it's location, then made a 1/4" block to insert in the rail so I could tap each one into the hole. Worked great.
Again, good luck, you kinda have to improvise.
