    Dave,

BINGO, you have posted the purpose to my questions! There's a particular car that has a sheet with NO codes on it, being toted as real. I'm trying to validate it.

"Put nothing past those folks but likely they have not done research like you are currently doing but they likely will learn something from the above information."

This can be said about almost every thread/post/question on the discussion board.

I don't think we should refrain from asking a question or posting information because of it. They the reproducers, will continue to learn no matter.

      Kevin,
Just compare the sheet with one or both of your originals. Key codes aside the font/paper quality etc. should tell you a lot. Also based on the above info it is likely not original if it lacks the key codes.

I don't suppose anyone would consider using the NCRS document validation service, or is the documnet conviently missing those parts necessary for that validation?

The last information I had, and it is months old, is that the service was/is suspended (suspension means temporary to me.). In a couple of weeks both of us may know more, if we ask and if there is more to know. Of course if you don't go to the Regional you may not know. One has to stay active to get the latest dirt. I know that is no news to you Dave. I hope to see you soon.

              Terry,
i'll be at Marlborough. I hope the powers to be have found a way to get the Validation service restarted. It's a very much needed program. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Kevin - It is my understanding that Bob Demmel is currently performing that service. I could be wrong, but heard this from a reliable source. You may want to get in touch with Bob.

Thanks for the tip! I do know Mr. Demmel. If I remember correctly he judged the interior of my LT-1 at Bloomington on the same team as you? Same guy right?
                  Thanks again Ron!

                    Kevin,
it is my understanding that Bob Demmel is doing the Shipping Data reports and not the Document Validation.

A couple of sections of my 72 tank sticker enlarged. The VIN 23200 in reverse is clear on the lower right section of the tank sticker. But what is this other number in reverse that is over top some of the RPO codes?

                        Ed,
That is the key code we have been speaking of in the previous posts in this thread. With that number you can go to a lock smith, or someone similar, and they can make a key for your car.

As recommended earlier in the thread, my recommendation is also to make sure you cannot make that code out as anyone can make a key for your car from it.

For example: if you were to pull your door lock out, there would be a number on it. It would be the same as the number on your tank sticker. Again, these numbers can be converted to a code or key that will fit your car.

It is great to have that number in a handy place just in case you were to loose your keys so you could have a lock smith make a new key from them if need be. I do have that number in my car somewhere, but I invert the two middle digits to keep anybody from finding it and using it to make a key.

I hope this information helps. I am very careful about posting any important information like that on any cars I own. I typically do not post it, or post that type of information on cars I have owned in the past. I posted that information very early in this thread on a car I used to own years ago, but I did not post the vin number as to not put the new owner of the car in jeopardy of something bad happening to him.

Best of luck and let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

                          Ed -

I can't see it, but if it's two digits, a space, then three digits, it's the "schedule number" for that vehicle - the first two digits identify the number of that schedule for the year, and the three digits identify that car's position within that 500-unit schedule.

On one of the 72's I own now it looks almost just like yours. Mine is much more clear and is easy to tell it is 4 digits, a hyphen, and four digits just as yours appears to be. Which would be your key code.

I looked at the numbers closely. It appears to be 4 characters, a hyphen, and 4 more characters. I am assuming that is the key code.

FYI: I have never owned this car. A previous owner had the tank sticker and was going to throw it out. He gave it to me instead.
The last I heard, this car is somewhere in the Warner Robbins, GA area.

The tank sticker is free to the owner of the car. I believe the owner is named Brandon Sapp. I have been unable to make contact with the owner.
