    1963 dash radio capacitors

The good news is both the ignition and the amp meter capacitors came with the car. The bad news is I took them off 6 months ago with out taking a picture of the back of the dash. Both brackets don't seem to line up with the appropriate screw hole and the ignition ignition has a connector that I am not sure where to plug in. The shop manual and Assy manual have good drawing but it looks like there is a seperate wire and plug that I can not find. Does anyone have a picture of the back of a dash? Any help is appreciated.

    Jeff,

Not to panic! Both of the caps are retained by screws that hold the bezel to the instrument housing. The one cap with the spade on it connects to one of the legs of the amp meter. It is held in place by the plug as it slides into the connector. The other is by the ignition switch and plugs into a brown wire that is in your wiring harness. It does not plug into the instrument cluster at all.

Someone will correct here if I'm wrong but I believe early '63 production did not incorporate a ignition capacitor. This would mean the brown wire is not put into use and left hanging.

Thank you all for the info and pictures. My car had the capacitor and it looks original. It is a mid November 1962 build.
