    Bob,

There is only one way to remove the radio from a 67. Remove both radio side covers, knobs and nuts, bolt on the right side, plug in the back and antenna plug in. Push the radio back to clear the volume and tuner shafts. Push up and tilt it to the side and carefully slide it out. You might want to remove the console as it gives you another 1/4 inch. It's that tight.
Not a piece of cake but not that difficult. You will be an expert after doing one.

Here's what the '66 and '67 Delco radio Service Manuals had to say:

I believe the radio can only be removed thru the drives side.

I did this last night on my 64.....I removed my glovebox, both side panels, put the gearshift in 4 th and slid the console back 3".....removed passenger side 5/8" mounting bolt an two radio knobs and nuts....unplugged antenna, the black and green harness on passenger and the three wire tab on upper driver side...

removal starts with pushing radio straight back to clear shafts from waterfall.....turn face toward passenger side, place shafts above the heater cables, lay the radio on it's back to the transmission tunnel....then it is a combination of pushing down on the console and pulling the waterfall dash forward.....all you need is 1/2" out of both movements and the radio comes out of passenger side, dial pointing up, bottom first......clear as mud?

I'm about to do this on my '67. Radio quit working, nothing but static, gotta check antenna connection first though. anyone know of a you-tube video out there perhaps ?

Removed & reinstalled the radio in my '64. Not that hard - Joe's procedure in post # 2 above is all you have to do. No need to remove the glove box. You will be working in tight quarters and in all sorts of contortions, it would be easier if you removed the driver's seat - (remove 2 bolts - loosen 2 bolts - easy.

It is a bit easier if you remove the console - but I guarantee that you will put scratches in the radio side panels when you remove them or try to reinstall them - especially if you remove the console. Highly recommend getting a spray can of interior vinyl die from LIC - it is good for hard plastic, fiberglass - great for spraying the side panels. While you have the radio out check the speaker - ie. model, ohms etc. If it is not matched to the radio you will damage the radio after you have it repaired.

There is a 'sweet spot' where the radio will nearly slide out on its own when you finally find it. Then you'll wonder what the big deal was.
There is no reason anything should get scratched...

Frank - you are correct - after the radio is tilted back and down there is a small "window" where you can slide it out very easily. The scratching I was referring to was from the removal and installation of the side panels - it is a tight fit on both sides - actually nothing to do with the radio removal process - and..... if you remove the console you have to be very careful to bring it straight back as the inside edges of the console will easily scratch the panels if they make contact.

I got it and you're right...kinda the opposite with a '63 though. If the kinda sharp fiberglass edges on those side panels scratch the extensions on that one year only console you'll see a grown man cry. I usually put two layers of blue painters tape on everything remotely in danger when working in that area !!

I've done it at least a dozen times. In and out from the pass. side. No big deal.

Sorry, but the last 6 replies were from today. I didn't notice when it originated but it's always nice to know that "forum police" are alive and well.

Now Ralph, as a 'newbie' around here you should be proud of me for using the 'search' function as opposed to starting a new thread .... LOL !

no problem with reviving and old topic for a current situation that I'm dealing with
