    Finish on 1967 Steering Coupler

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering what is the proper finish for the upper and lower aspects of my 1967 steering column coupler? Interesingly, my original (? presumed) has a ground strap-like attachement that the new GM part does not. Ar ethese old ones actually rebuildable (to where one cannot detect - rather than replacing rivets with nuts & bolts)

    Thanks,

    Carl

The rag joint castings are natural, no finish. As to the copper strap that links electrically the lower to the upper casting, (so the steering column is grounded), it is also natural. You can disassemble and restore the original joint if carefull and determined to appear original. Peening of new pins (copied and fabricated)is required if doing a complete job.
