    carpet clean-up

I wanted to thank everyone for the advice on the heater core removal on my '72 LT1 with A/C. Here is my chance to help you all out, if you want that anti-freeze smell and stain out of your original carpet try this. First you must remove the carpet from the car, the fluids seep down between the fiber treads to the underlayment. Next borrow the wife's (or rent) a Bissell Power Steamer model 1631-1 and set if up with the hand devise. Disolve 1/8 measure scoop of Oxi Clean in 12 oz. hot water (yes, the stuff Billy Mays sells on TV, you can now buy it at lots of places including Home Depot). You have to separate the underlayment pad from the carpet. Remove all the wet antifreeze first, then start with the Oxi Clean.(Tip: Do not mix it up untill your ready to use) Repeat untill the carpet and underlayment is clean. Allow to air dry.
