    1959 Fuel Injected 4-speed

I'm looking for additional information outside of Noland Adams book regarding identifying a 1959 Fuelie. I don't have the original block or fuel unit but do have: a high rev tach with the short cable, a 1102059 generator, a windshield washer system with the bottle bracket on the passenger side and holes where the fuel injection tags mount on the fenders. My VIN is 2564.

What else should I look for?

The car is also equipped with positraction and two tops. It currently has a 64 Corvette 327, suffix "SK" which turns over but does not run. What is a fuelie project worth these days because I think I may be over my head on this one?

    Thanks,

    Don Walker

Don, there are a few other tell tale signs to look for. First, look at the inner fender on the driver's side right up against the hood surround. About 2/3 back there should two holes that are threaded and a rivet in the middle. This is the air cleaner mounting nut plate. There should also be two 1/4" holes about an inch apart, forward of the nut plate and 8-10" down on the inner fender. This is the lower mounting for the ac. Next, the left hole in the radiator support should not have a blank off plate and the screw holes should NOT be threaded. There should be some holes in the left inner fender for the hose brackets for the air hose, sort of like the heater hose on the right side. The horn relay should be mounted on the verticle surface of the inner fender instead of the horizontal surface where the air inlet hose would go. Sort of imagine the hose in place and you will see what I mean. There should be NO mounting holes for the windshield washer on the left side.

If only part of these tell tales show up, I would be suspicious. Also, the hole in the dash for the tach cable should be a factory cut oval, not something someone added with a hole saw.

      Ed,

Thank you very much. My car has each of the items listed in your reply.

Don't forget the three verticle holes on the pass side to mount the shield for the water bottle.

Nor the clamp and nut plate for the fresh air supply and no evidence of a block off plate on the drivers side core support extension.

Sounds like you're looking at the real deal. Dale Pearman provided me with a list before I went to look at my 62, which was alleged to be an original fuelie. It all checked out, I bought the car, located a fuel unit and now it is a fuelie once again. When I started assembling the fuel unit, air cleaner, hoses, etc., everything bolted right up to the original holes.
