    1972 red Interior

    Hi Guys,

I have just started to restore my original red Interior...i am just wondering about the correct red colour code, is there any special code? What red do i have to use to restore side quarter panel? colomn steering? etc...

NB: I recently ordered some red carpets and i have to admit that the red was totally different to the red of the rest of the car...So what I am trying to do is give it a uniform red colour...
Please note that i m down under

    you help is highly appreciated

Dont laugh at the right hand drive (lol)

First of all, the interior usually had many shades of red. The different components came from several suppliers. Once it is all assembled inside of the car, the shades are less apparent. The only way to obtain a uniform color is to dye everything. I would just accept the fact of the different shades.

Joe, just out of curiosity, was your right hand drive set up by a Corvette shop just outside of Melbourne? I was visiting friends there few years ago and spent an entire afternoon yakking with the owner but can't remember his name. He specialized in converting newer Corvettes to the right hand drive and I was suprised to hear that it wasn't required for any American auto that qualified as an antique.

i think you are referring to corvette clinic William...the person who you were chatting to i think was Peter wisyon. I met him at the NCRS meet @ melbourne.

thats right if the car is 30 years or older, the car is considered as a historic vehicle, but mine was imported to Australia early 90's so you know the rest...had to be converted Will

Joe, that's the guy and the shop. Real personable fellow who tries to make it to one of the big U.S. meets every year, usually "Corvettes at Carlisle". Tried to talk him into Bloomington and staying with me since I'm only a 20 min. drive to the new location and 1 1/2 hours from the old one. I lost contact with him about 3 years ago.

                Joe,

If you're interested in being 'correct', I don't think that the red steering wheel or red dash cap are original to a '72. Both should be black IIRC.

The colour variations from component to component are almost inevitable, trying to figure out which one is the closest in shade is difficult also.

Joe, is Peter Wisyon the fellow that was at the NCRS Chapter Meet in Melbourne with the converted Chevy SS truck and the blue C1 with the 502 crate engine? Both of those were very nice work.

                  Cheers,
                  Charlie

Dash cap should be interior color. Red.
