What would typically be the things that could cause only my right rear parking brake to really hold and not the left? The brake does keep the car from moving, but if you pull up on the handle with the car moving it will lurch to the right. I replaced the ebrake hardware with stainless but reused the shoes as they seemed just fine and not particularly worn. I cleaned and degreased the shoes before installing. Cables and all in good shape and move freely. Trailing arms completely rebuilt. Should I start over and replace the shoes?
Today I repeated the adjustment procedure for the parking brake as called out in the Service Manual. Afterwards the right side works pretty well, but the left just won't grab nearly as well. The procedure has you loosen the cable completely and then tighten the star wheel adjusters until the wheel can't be turned. On the left side I have to really tighten the star wheel as much as I can and even then I can still move the wheel if I try hard enough.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
