Agreed. When I mentioned errors, I am specifically thinking about some things I found in the 71 manual that were not very clear, or yes, on one or two minor occasions, not right (per my reading). The most difficult part, as mentioned, is that you have to "read between the lines." For example, my manual says a lot about 70, a lot about 72, and much less specifically about 71. You have to "infer" a few things. And it can be frustrating.
This is why I have mentioned a few times that 1) Your own car is your best source of information, and 2) It helps tremendously to look at other cars, if possible those with serial numbers near yours. I was even lucky enough to find one built the same day as mine. And guess what? Some of our date codes were quite different!
You might be surprised how many questions could be "answered," or new ones started, with trips to Bloomington, Carlisle, and other large shows where you are likely to find 68's. Or do you even live near a large dealer who might have some 68's or even 69's to examine? Do you live anywhere where one of us helpful types could even come see your car?
Remember, some of the "fun" is in finding out the history of your car and how it was built, as much as in the rest of the restoration.
