      When cold the first stop is not there at all. You only do that once, then you put brakes on when driving away, just a short distance. After that you stop better then the others.

            The lining segment dimension data for J-65 and HD brakes is listed in the AMA specs.

              Try parking a stick shift car on a hill using the emergency brake. Leave the car in gear while parked so it doesn't move, but then, when it's time to go, press the clutch in to start the engine before it rolls into whatever is closest to you. Or you could try to heel-toe it until it starts. It's like having no brakes. Down-rite dangerous under certain circumstances.

              But I wouldn't give them up for anything..... One just has to understand where the safe limits are.

                if you want - I can get the numbers off my drums and shoes for my 1963 Z06 - they are packed away in boxes

                  Rick..when you get a chance..I would be interested in the casting numbers on the rim face of the drums and also the stamped or inked #'s on the shoes.

                  On the 63 Z06 drum below..the # appears to be 3841832
